TracFone Free Skinit Offer

The TracFone website has recently begun a free Skinit offer with the purchase of a Samsung T301g or a Motorola W376g.  Update - They are now offering a free Skinit with any phone or phone/airtime bundle order over $29.99.

What is a Skinit, you ask?  To be honest, I didn't know either until TracFone started this free offer.  From looking at the Skinit website, it didn't take long to figure out that they are personalized adhesive covers for phones, laptops, cameras, gaming systems (such as the Nintendo Wii), and other consumer devices.

They come in all sorts of pre-made designs, such as sports teams, universities, Disney, American Idol, military, religious, and many many more.  If none of those quite hit what you want, you can make your own custom design using a slick online editor.

Once you receive your order, you carefully apply your new Skinit to your phone, and voila!  You've just transformed your boring old TracFone, the one you're ashamed to pull out in front of your friends, into an exciting conversation piece that you will be proud to show off to complete strangers!

OK, so that's stretching it a little, but let's face it, TracFone is not exactly known for having the newest or most exciting phones on the market.  Thus, this new thing they have going with Skinit is only good.

The main downside is that Skinit's are only available for certain TracFone models.   Other than the W376g (search for W376 on the Skinit website) and the T301g (search for T301 on the Skinit website), I can only seem to find the LG 600g.

According to the fine print, the TracFone free Skinit offer is only good through June 30, 2009 July 31, 2009 or while supplies last.    What you actually get is a pin code good worth $14.99 that can be redeemed on the Skinit website.  This code will be in the box with your new phone, and I'm 99% sure this code can be redeemed toward any Skinit for any device, not just the TracFone that it came with.

TracFone W376g Sale at Kmart

I received the following news in an email from a reader:

"FYI, Kmart will be selling the W376 new for 19.95 until June 6th which is a deal!"

The TracFone website  has the W376g new for $29.99, but you can get a free Skinit customized cover skin for the phone, which is a $14.99 value.

TheTracFone website also has a refurbished W376g for $19.99, but you get free 60 minute airtime card, which is a $19.99 value.

If you're in the Market for the TracFone Motorola W376g, you now have 3 nice bargains to choose from!

TracFone Samsung T301G sale on HSN

A TracFone Samsung T301G bundle is currently the "Today's Special" on HSN for today 5/7/09.  It comes with the phone, a bluetooth headset, and 800 minutes.  From what I can tell, it comes with the 400-minute 1-year card.  Since the phone has DMFL, that card would get doubled, which is where they are gettig the the 800 minutes.  Of course, you could also add the card to another phone or sell it if you want.

The are selling this bundle for $99.90, and it includes free shipping, which makes it a very nice deal if you're currently in the market for either the phone or the airtime card.  Especially since the airtime card sells for $99 by itself on the TracFone Website, and the T301G sells for $49.

TracFone Mother's Day Specials for May 2009

TracFone was late in updating their promo codes this week, but what they lacked in speed, they made up for in quantity!

First, if you are in the market for a Double Minute For Life (DMFL) card, the time to buy is now.  The TracFone website is offering the standard DMFL card for $24.99 (reg. $49.99), and the 1-year 800 minute DMFL card for $124.99 (reg. $134.99).  

No promo code needed for these discounts.  Nice!  You should, however, be able to use an applicable promo code to get some extra free minutes even with the discounted prices.  Try using 51540 to get 50 free minutes with the standard DMFL card or using 51578 to get 200 free minutes on the 1-year DMFL card.

I have seen TracFone list the expiration date for 1-year 800 minute DMFL offer as either May 5, May 14, or May 29 (depending on where you look), but I haven't seen an official expiration listed for the standard DMFL card.

Another Mother's Day special they are running is that if you order the Samsung TracFone T301G slider phone on the TracFone website you get a free TracPac carrying case, which is a $14.99 value.  Hey, free is better than not free!

Save $3 on 60 minute, 450 minute, or 400 minute/one-year TracFone airtime cards

Last week, a reader of my TracFone Promo Code Newsletter gently scolded me for missing an easy way to get an easy bargain deal on TracFone airtime cards by using promo codes.  Here's what you do:

• Go to the TracFone website and look for the phone/airtime bundles they have for sale.
• Use promo code 23444 for $3 off any TracFone phone or phone/airtime bundle when placing your order.
• The airtime part of the bundle will come as a separate airtime card that you can add to ANY Tracfone (not necessarily the one in the bundle) using any appropriate promotional code.    

TracFone is currently offering free shipping on any phone or phone/airtime bundle order of $19.99 (before applying the promo code), so the only downside to this method is that you have to wait a few days while the bundle shipped to you.

The upside is that you save $3 on the airtime, plus you can still use a promo code when adding the airtime, plus you get a free phone in the deal.  

What you do with the new phone is up to you:  keep it as a backup, scavenge it for parts (charger, battery, etc.), give it away to a friend or charity, or maybe sell it on ebay or craigslist to make the effective cost of your airtime even cheaper.  Who knows, you may even like the new phone better than your current phone!

So let's take a look at this in action.  Currently, the TracFone website shows a bundle where for $19.99 you get a reconditioned TracFone Motorola V170, plus a 60 unit airtime card, plus a promo code for 60 free minutes (I think it's 14938).

Use the $3 off promo code, and you are now getting your 60 minute card for $16.99.  Using the promo code, you're getting 90 days of service plus 120 minutes, or 140 if you keep the phone and activate it online.  If you have DMFL on your phone, you'd get 180 minutes, which is less than 10 cents/minute.  Not too bad for only $16.99.

This is also intriguing for those of you who need service time more than airtime.  The airtime card will add 90 days of service to your phone, just like any other airtime card.  

Instead of ordering a 1-year card for $99.99, make four separate orders of the $19.99 bundle using the $3 promo code each time.  $16.99 X 4 = $67.96, so for around $70 (figuring in tax) you get 360 service days for your phone by adding each of the airtime cards to your current TracFones.  Again, what you do with the phones from the bundles is up to you.

If you'd rather buy a larger airtime card, the TracFone website also currently has phone/airtime bundles with a 450 unit card, as well as a bundle with a 400 unit one-year airtime card.

Anyway, this is just food for thought.  It's a little more work than just buying the airtime directly, but you can definitely save some money on your airtime!

New TracFone Promo Codes and Free Shipping and Accesory Kit Offer on Phones

The TracFone website is currently running a Valentine special through February 11, 2009 where you get free ground shipping and a free accessory kit with any phone order of $29.99 or greater.  No promo code required.

I did a little testing tonight and discovered that the offer also works with phone/airtime bundles.  It still seemed to work if I used TracFone coupon code 23444 ($3 off any phone order) on a $29.99 phone such as the Motorola W376g.

One confusing thing is that it does not show the accessory kit in your shopping cart when you checkout, but if you see that you've got the free shipping, then you'll know that they'll send the accessory kit too.

Something new and different this week!  For the first time that I can remember, TracFone has released a promo code that is more like a TracFone coupon in that it reduces the price of an airtime card instead of giving free bonus minutes.

55119 - Save $10 on a 400 minute one-year card - Expires February 3, 2009

This code is "Web Only!" which basically means that you can't use it to get a discount if you buy the airtime card at a retail store.  Who knows if they'll offer a discount like this again, so if you're even remotely in the market for a one-year card, you might want to jump on this bargain.

Speaking of money off, TracFone coupon code 23444 still seems to be working for $3 off any phone order!  I thought that one had expired a long time ago...

TracFone Motorola W376g Price Drop

The TracFone website is now selling the TracFone Motorola W376g for $29.99, which is a significant price drop from its original $49.99 price.  Just to refresh your memory, the TracFone W376 is a camera flip phone with limited internet capability that was the first bluetooth enabled TracFone.  It also comes standard with TracFone's Double MInutes For Life feature, which is a $49.99 value by itself.

Remember that the $3 coupon code for TracFone and Net10 phones is still active through October 31, 2008, so that brings the price down to $26.99. You will, however, have to pay shipping and tax.

TracFone LG600 Price Drop

The TracFone website is now selling the TracFone LG600 for $49.99, which is a nice deal considering it used to be $79.99.

Also remember that the $3 coupon code for TracFone and Net10 phones is still active through October 31, 2008, so that brings the price down to $46.99.  TracFone is also run free shipping on any phones over $35, but you do have to pay tax.

TracFone Promo Code 50508 worked today for 60 free airtime minutes

My trusty TracFone Nokia 2600 was low on airtime, so it was time to fill 'er up.  I've just recently learned about TracFone Promo Code 50508, which is good for 60 free airtime minutes on a 60 minute or greater card, so I thought this would be a good time to test it out.

I went to the airtime page on TracFone.com and decided to buy a 200 minute airtime card.  I have the DMFL on my Nokia 2600, so I got 400 minutes for the price of 200.  TracFone Promo Code 50508 gave me 60 free airtime minutes, so that put me up to 460 minutes.  TracFone Promo Codes do not get doubled with the DMFL feature.

TracFone also has what they call a Super Size option where you can add on extra airtime or service days to your card, and I chose to add 60 airtime minutes for $10.  Since I have the DMFL, those minutes did get doubled to 120.

So my total cost was $53.41 (with tax) and I got 200 + 200 + 60 + 60 + 60 = 580 TracFone airtime minutes.  That comes out to about 9.2 cents per minute if you include the cost of the tax, or about 8.6 cents per minute if you don't include the cost of the tax.

So overall, I'm pretty pleased.  I was only wanting to spend around $50 on airtime, and these minutes should keep me going for several months.

New Coupon Code Discount on TracFone and Net10 Phones

TracFone and Net10 have released new coupon codes today that give you a $3 discount on any phone, or phone + airtime bundle, or accessory valued at $19.99 or above (before taxes and shipping).  These coupon codes are not valid on airtime-only purchases, are only good at the TracFone online store or the Net10 online store, and are set to expire on October 31, 2008.

To use the TracFone coupon, click here to go to the TracFone online store and enter coupon code 23444 in the promotional code phone field in the shopping cart.  BE SURE TO HIT THE SUBMIT BUTTON UNDER THE PROMO CODE FIELD to make the discount take effect.  You will then see the discount reflected in the shopping cart.
